Jacques Champion de Chambonnières
~ ~ ~ (b Paris 1602, d Paris 1672) French composer and harpsichordist. His father was harpsichordist to Louis XIII as he himself became to Louis XIV, who ennobled him. Regarded as founder of French harpsichord school. Published 2 books of Pièces de clavessin (1670), edited in modern times by T. Dart, 1969. |
